The Need:
A regional medical center in West Virginia is seeking a physician to address the community’s increasing need for eye care. The facility was also looking to grow an Ophthalmology group with the goal of building a residency program in their medical school. The hospital also needed the physician as part of their succession plan. The challenges involved today’s tightly competitive marketplace due to physician shortages, as well as finding a physician with a niche and unique subspecialty in order to build a successful residency program. The healthcare organization partnered with Pinnacle Health Group (PHG) in recruiting for this practice opportunity.
The Action:
To ensure that the match was perfect on both ends, Pinnacle Health Group met with the administrators to assess exactly what they needed for the practice and designed a sourcing campaign around that. PHG also made first-hand site visits for a community profile, and implemented a comprehensive marketing campaign to acquire quality physician candidates. PHG obtained excellent responses, with email blasts being the most effective approach. PHG regularly communicated with the facility’s administrators for updates on the search process.
The Result:
PHG presented a physician who was greatly interested in the position due to the opportunity to develop an ophthalmology program and be involved in leading a residency program. The family-friendly and dynamic mid-size community also appealed to the physician. After the recruitment and hiring process, PHG worked with multiple departments and affiliated hospitals in order to help the physician support his subspecialty in oculoplastics. Exceeding the client’s expectations with creative sourcing and proactive communication, PHG is now tasked to help the facility look for more physicians for the facility’s residency program.
